The discrepancy between exit polls and real results has raised questions about the accuracy of pre-election predictions, the tools used to conduct surveys and sample collection strategies.

Most exit polls had forecast an easy Congress victory in Haryana which saw a voter turnout of 67.90 percent, while giving an edge to the Congress-National Conference alliance in Jammu & Kashmir.

The BJP and Congress are the main contenders in the race. Prominent candidates are Bhupinder SIngh Hooda, Vinesh Phohat, Nayab Singh Saini and others.

The BJP's journey this election cycle was nothing short of remarkable. Despite predictions suggesting a Congress resurgence, early results show the BJP leading in 49 seats, capturing a significant 39.

RJD President Lalu Prasad Yadav reacting to Haryana Exit polls predicting a Congress victory, said, "Ye paraajay hai Narendra Modi ka (this should be seen as a defeat of Narendra Modi)."

According to Axis My India exit poll projections, Congress is likely to win 59 seats in the state, while the BJP could win 23 seats. Other parties may win 8 seats.
