Illinois State Police have opened an investigation after skeletal remains were found near Chicago’s Northwest Side Sunday afternoon. Authorities said the skeletal remains were found about 12:20 p.m. near Interstate 90.

Illinois State Police on Sunday were investigating skeletal remains found near the Kennedy Expressway. At 12:22 p.m., Chicago Police called troopers around the bones, which were found on the Kennedy Expressway embankment next to the northwest-bound lanes at Webster Avenue.

The scene is at the edge of the Bucktown neighborhood, right down the street from Whirlyball Chicago.
