Australia and England are set to kick off their Women's T20 World Cup campaigns, with Australia undefeated against Sri Lanka in T20Is and England rebounding from a loss to Australia with a win over New Zealand.

England start their pursuit of a second women’s T20 world title on Saturday, playing their opening match against Bangladesh in Sharjah, with a game plan that hopes to be as simple as it is effective: spin it.

This year’s Women’s T20 World Cup is the ninth edition of the competition since its creation in 2009. That year, England triumphed over New Zealand in the final, on home soil, but Australia have won six of the subsequent seven tournaments.
