A major motorway has been forced to close after heavy rain caused flash flooding on the carriageway. National Highways have warned that delays will increase after the M5 was closed southbound between junction 14 for Falfield and 15 for the M4. A spokesperson said: ‘The M5 is closed southbound between J14 Falfield and J15 M4.

The M5 in Somerset was closed on Tuesday, October 8, southbound between J25 near Taunton and J26 near Wellington due to flooding sparked by heavy rainfall. National Highways set a diversion route in place, with road users being advised to follow the solid square diversion symbol on road signs.
